I think it's good too...
How to fix to brickwork? I wonder about putting eyelets in the corners, maybe top centre too:

Cuphooks in the brickwork across the top, maybe a couple of sticks to hold the bottom out from the wall, weights hanging from the lower corners?
First trial might just use loops of string tied round knotted hanky type corners!

Just tried a variation of this to see how it works. I had some left over 1.5 metre wide reflective sheet, the sort of mirror finish bubble wrap/foam stuff, from when I bought a big roll to use some for greenhouse shading ages ago. I cut off a length and stapled the long edges to battens, then slung it up outside a window that was getting direct sun with a bit of garden wire and a couple of eyelets screwed into the wall. It's a bit Heath Robinson but was really a proof of concept as much as anything else.
The effect is amazing, the inside pane of the window is now cool to the touch, whereas all the others are very warm. Not a nice job putting it up, though, as the heat reflected back at me was astonishing and made me appreciate just how much solar gain the window was getting. I was being blasted by the sun on my back and the reflected sun at the front - I felt a bit like a chicken in one of those infrared rotisserie things.
Ten minutes after I finished putting it up the awnings I'd ordered for two other windows at the front of the house turned up, so the job tomorrow morning first thing is to try and get them up.
Be interesting to see how warm the living room gets this evening. The last few evenings the heat from the setting sun has made it a bit uncomfortable.
