Inexpensive insulation strategy

#1

Post by Joeboy »

We have finished the guest bedroom, Underlay & carpet laid yesterday. Its a completely different room now. Acoustics have changed as have the wall temps. Pre works there was around a -2.5 to 3 deg difference between the reference wall/floor in the hall way and the guest room. This difference is now +1 deg.

We ensured that the underlay was also used in the wardrobe 3 spaces. Along with blocking up rad pipe holes, reworking an old sealed floor vent, sealing along base of skirting board, every hole and crack filled and sanded, wall plates, ceiling rose sealed, thermalmix paint additive to the two outer walls two coats and the eco underlay throughout has combined to make a vast difference and entirely non invasive in execution. :D
SWMBO is well chuffed. That's a win!

It didn't take much cash to achieve this wonderful result. It was mostly down to implementing knowledge gained across the years and gotta say a 3.5 to 4.5 deg change against the test wall & floor is incredible. Its also worth mentioning that this room has been a bit of a time capsule for how it used to be here before my brain was switched onto the strategies we can use to improve our environment. Its been an excellent wee reinforcement of the progress made.
