Hi all,
I have been looking at green roofs for a while and I wondered if anyone has had any experience with them? They are becoming more popular and provide a few mechanical (longer life for flat roof components) and insulation (mainly cooling in the summer) properties as well as water management etc.
I am looking to get a new flat roof mostly covered in plants and am at the architect phase so wondered if anyone on here had any experience and/or pointers.
Ideally I am looking to a semi-extensive roof with about 6" growing medium but I can be convinced in other directions.
Before anyone asks - the roof is not suitable for any form of electricity generation (solar panels/solar thermal etc.) and given my other generation projects I am more interested in sustainability/bio-diversity for this roof.
Thoughts welcome.
