Thanks, we absolutely love the cottage even with some of the drawbacks of the exposed position and the garden being over the road.

Good for taking the lads and the dogs to the beach too.

It appears they now have some stock of the 1200W version as well.

In the last storm my cheap Chinese inverter on the bin store suffered water damage (it was basically stuck in a jet washer haze of spray for about 16 hours after the home made weather cover was ripped off its mounts by the sixty plus mph gusts) so I’ve got a solax inverter to try out on the two panel installation at the side of the cottage, one of those panels existing Chinese inverters will replace the water damaged bin store one and give me a spare.

If it works well then I will probably get something similar for the 2kWp that is in build.

what stunning weather we are having, 5 days off the grid including around 35kWh into the car via the type 1 charger and the house batteries not dropping below 75% in the same period. I think by the time I get around to finishing off the 2kWp array I will probably need to move up to a type two charger to soak up excess power better.

Car battery nearly full, house battery full and no one home - what to do next ? portable air con out and plugged in on heating mode, 31 degrees selected and running - house currently at 15.5 degrees - air con located in opposite room and diagonally furthest position away from thermostat reading 15.5 degrees. 14:20 test begins.

15:00 and we are at 16.7 degrees on the thermostat.

Well I think thats pretty good as a result, 16:09 and the coldest part of the lounge is 20 degrees, the play room and kitchen are 23 degree which is where the unit is situated for the test, based on that information a 3kW A2A with 2 internal heat exchangers would do down stairs and upstairs comfortably. That would then just leave finding a space for a HWC for DHW, but that then begs the question that if I need a HWC anyway is A2W not the right option - I will need to crunch some numbers but I think this is going to come down to cold hard cash being the deciding factor.

Moments like this that I wish the mobile air conditioning unit I was given could heat as well.
Saying that, solar gain is keeping the house pretty warm, only 2Kwh of gas used to heat the house today.

Good use of the unit for testing!
10x 405W JA Solar panels (4.05kWp) @ 5 degrees
3x 405W Longi panels (1.22kWp) @ 90 degrees
16.5kWh DIY LifePo4 battery
Solis inverter/charger
0.6kW Ripple WT
64kWh Kia E-Niro
