I've got half the old front log store to load into it and the next few days are forecast rain so I'll likely do some chopping & splitting in the vanport.
If its dry tomorrow I might look at getting the 1kW Hoymiles system up on the vanport roof.
I do hope to see wildlife making use of the space.

I like the idea of a shelter so that “outdoor jobs” can still get done even when the weather is less than cement…Joeboy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 2:52 pm I've got half the old front log store to load into it and the next few days are forecast rain so I'll likely do some chopping & splitting in the vanport.

All kidding aside, I should have done this years ago.
Got about 1 cubic mtr of overly long logs to half & stack tomorrow.

I'll then have a handle on how many cubes the store can take which will help me out in the new world of Winter ashp log use.

You couldn't make it up. It has just started to rain. Caring not a Jot!

We're not quite there yet but impressed with how you've embraced it. I'm still enjoying playing about with the solar gain/ ventilation and getting used to the new 3g dynamic.
The ashp is very much HW only (nearly). If it chills down on air temps I am still running the wbs. Absolute habit to be sure but we are now down to a starter log and two more over the evening. Wbs is running as low & slow as it can.

Re: Outbuildings and why they're great. (Vanport)
Sourced two of old skool poly Sharp 170W panels. The lady is looking for £50 for the pair. Will collect tomorrow in Aboyne in the last remaining van to give it a decent run before France.
These will do nicely as covered walkway connecting bootroom & van port which will co incidentally generate some power.
I like that, old gear that is being relifed

There are another four Sharp panels there if anyone is interested in a Hoymiles 800W balcony set up? Okay it would be 640W...
Absolutely pishing down here and still generation of 1.5kW across the fleet. I am happier with that figure in adverse conditions than I am with 10kW peaks on best days.
Nowty, that will be another 560+2x170 =0.9kW. No1 Son & I got the big panel aloft this morning. The Hoymiles HMS800 2T is in transit along with a field wireable connector.
The above standalone system came in at
560W panel £75
2×170W panel £50
HMS 800 2T microinverter £111
Hoymiles field wire connx £12.
Total£248
It will be limited due to its location but as its built to keep the rain off primarily..
I'll be happy with 1 to 1.5kWh per day. If it ever made 2kWh in a day I'd be very happy. At 1.5kWh per day it's 3 yr to pay off.
That closes out our PV system at 17.55kWp,
Sig updated.
