Great to be back. New toys so I've marked up the ledger plate position with my new laser level and chemical fixed a single threaded rod. It's a big old plate so I need a swivel point to work from. Doddle to Do, more new toys, an Einhell battery impact drill and a few masonary bits. Tbh I have no idea what the drop is going to be. Something like 100mm across 5 mtrs. So it's really minimal for run off but should work.

All dictated by solar roof clearance on van and try to keep as close as possible to the 3mtr height rule for permitted development.

The ledger plate has been treated for insects and a few coats of duck back black.





TBH, I'm absolutely bricking it doing this as I have a history of being a bit off when it comes to measuring out 4 point builds . Best intentions and all that.


It was good to go up the ladder though, leaning against one of the 6" posts and it didn't shift at all! First load test successfully executed to a value of one chubber exerting 110kgs of force at an angle of...

Managed to get the full 160mm hole depth on that first pivot anchor.. Will manage that on another out at the other end of plate but then we'll be down to 110mm hole depth as the plate will be up and drilling through the 50mm timber plate.


Funny, I only went round for a look! Good to use the compressor to clear the holes.

Sometimes easier to fix with a 4” screw and go back and drill through the wood and into the harling for the bigger fixings..

Thanks AGT, stopped off in Brechin this afternoon on the way up the road at a recycling centre as swmbo was collecting a few garden chairs. I got 4 bags of sharp sand, a killaspray, rough brush, couple of small high quality imperial masonary drill bits and some dilution solvent. For all my bits & bobs, a tenner...

The JA 550's are on site. I'm now officially too old to be handling panels that size on my own!.Very glad I had No1 Son with me.

Last update for a wee bit. The one bolt pivot worked well. Effortless really.



Off for 2x2 slabs tomorrow then get into it with the power tools again Monday morning. Amazing how that big timber shrinks down to a stick when it's up there!

I'll get the wall holes drilled out, studs chemically fixed on Monday and leave to cure until Wednesday before tightening. Might leave a bit more beyond that for finish torquing up as over to NI on Thursday with swmbo.
