The sawmill fella over towards Insch has went incommunicado which is a bit odd. I've since requested another sawmill closer to the Broch for a quote. The price is good and includes relifed galvanised roofing from an industrial demolition project in Bridge of Don.

The roofing sheets will be cut to 5mtr lengths and the whole lot will be delivered to the house in the price.



The project is costing out like this

£910 running total once load has been delivered. Another £150 for fixings, a wee bit of work and we'll have a rain sheilded workspace that will double up as a vanport. I reckon £2,000 and a selection of secondhand slabs and we'll have a gated, courtyard garden/ vanport that earns on multiple levels...hopefully by Winter.

The fella kindly game me a roofing offcut and I'm going to try and match it's profile to a wall flashing for watertight. No idea, new ground I'm into now.

P.S I'm running with the project but it is entirely SWMBO's idea.

I've always loved a hut, cabin, shed. They are so multipurpose plus you know that at a push you could live in one.

As you can see, no expense has been spared in the commissioning of a top architect who has produced exemplary drawings to work from.

The extensive calcs came out at a beam length of 4mtrs being close enough and we'll make the rest up later. Backed up by good old 'that'll do', is the kettle on?

Ive not even been over to the neighbour yet to ask if the asbestos roof removal quote for the existing ruin is acceptable to him.

For the mental price of £910 for everything delivered, it makes sense to get the physical structure up first. The panelling will act as a secondary watertight layer under any solar panels that may grace it.

The original idea was to roof in panels only. A bit of thought and for £8 a sheet it's worth ensuring the space is dry for working within. Odds are on that PV will go up there too at some point. Already have an existing 1kW Hoymiles system that will go up there and be in a better position than its current spot.

Might stick another 2kW on there too on the DC side but waiting to see how monster the Summer peak is with the current rig.

Thank you, the game once more, is afoot! I'm sitting here with a glass of red thinking about existing panels and potential secondhand panels. There's definitely still a strong drive within me akin to joy of 5th hand toys of childhood. A very clean unfiltered feeling that one.
