Insulating Timber Garage
Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Doing some electrics in the garage for workshop use, also sistering some 18mm plywood rips to existing roof trusses for additional support, prior to rails and panels going up.
9mm OSB added to another wall for rigidity.
6 rails cut to size and cut ends painted with galv paint

Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Workbench half made, found bench power supply, lights and my long lost variac!
Even found the pinecil soldering iron, and desoldering station.
Need to get these panels up soon to let start playing with all the fun I’m finding in boxes long forgotten about

Sounds like fun - It's satisfying when things start coming together
Solar PV since July '22:
5.6kWp east/west facing
3.6kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter
2x 5.12kWh Sunsynk batteries
1.6kWp Hoymiles East/West facing PV on the man cave
Ripple DW 2kW
Ripple WB 200W

Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Yes sure is, brackets were welded yesterday so hopefully get some of them fitted this weekend in between kids activities!
Re: Insulating Timber Garage

Slow progress as I’m tidying up the contents of the garage as i go, found all the hardware, screws, silicones purchased over several months and now deposited into 1 box
Completed consumer unit, just need to fit some surface boxes and sockets.
B&Q do great little black storage boxes for £3 so bought 16 so far and sorted into different ‘ stuff’ that I will keep.
Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Those old transformer based Sunny Boys may not be the most efficient these days but they are near bomb proof. They will likely see us all out.

19.6kW PV > 114MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 34MWh generated
7 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
90kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 530 m3

Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Hope so, my 2011 FIT install is on a sunny boy 1700, and still plodding away, got this one on EBay for £100 so can’t complain.
Re: Insulating Timber Garage
First pic shows the fixing bolt- driven in with a T25 bit, wood thread on one end, machine thread on the other M8.
I cut some felt pieces with a 50mm hole saw,
OB1 silicone squished around the thread about the size of a 50pence piece, niece and thick, pushed felt over the fixing, and squished it in place.
Repeat 24 times, 1 tube silicone did 24 rods, plus a wee bit left over
8mm nut and large washer under bracket, will get the same ontop to lock into position.
Tomorrow going to fit 100x100mm square felt pieces over the circular felt pad as belt and braces approach, these will be heat melted on as it’s torch on felt.

Re: Insulating Timber Garage

Torch on felt square covering small circular felt patch, and as there was some silicone left I ran a bead around the top and sides for good measure..
Small circular patch created a lump in the square patch which will help keep water away from the fixing, this did get a smear of OB1 around it too for good measure…
