Don't see how I can keep the grey edging blocks around the perimeter of the garage if I dig it up and put a drain there.

Surely I can't just sit the grey blocks on the aco drain?

The left hand side looks like it will be ok if can move all the stones away allowing the rain/water to run away from the wall. Maybe that wall can just be black jacked?

I'm edging towards either sbr/cement slurry or a few tins of black jack on the floor inside up to the damp course on walls.

Prime the floor and lash a load of self levelling compound down and pray to the Gods of Umidus!

Then tackle the outside at a later date for a more permanent solution.
IME you can't get a lasting waterproofing to stay on the inside of a damp wall, the osmotic pressure or whatever it is will force the coating off the surface.

You need to apply your chosen treatment to the outside where the hydrostatic pressure works in your favour.

Thanks sharpener.... I see what you mean.

Think I'm going to expose the concrete footings and apply a couple of coats of a cement/sbr waterproof (sika) slurry to the base of the blocks/brick externally. Going to wait for that to dry, then going to paint over with black jack up to the dpc (I was going to paint it black anyways for aesthetic reasons... 2 birds one stone). Put the grey paviors back and hopefully that will do the trick. Might do the same on the inside as well.

Yep, treatment on the outside is defo the way to go, once done leave the inside alone to allow the water an escape route, screed the floor by all means but nothing up the blockwork.

I know how you all like pics!

Did a little bit more excavation today... Pacing myself! Hehe

Fully exposed footings now on all sides.

Any advice on how thick to make the sbr/cement slurry?
What ratio? Neat or with water?
I was thinking 1:1 cement:sbr(neat)... :whako:

Cheers for your help.

Isn’t it 1:1:5

SBR/water/cement, in multiple layers in different directions between layers

I have used SBR cement slurry lots of times as a bonding agent for patio slabs for EG but not heard of that as a waterproofer . Could very well be wrong of course.

From manufacturer

Uses of SBR Additive

Our SBR additive can be used in various mixes for different applications. These include:

SBR Primer - used as a primer on a wide range of surfaces to improve adhesion.
SBR Slurry - used to improve adhesion and flexibility of cement-based mixes onto surfaces of low suction.
SBR Render - used as an SBR additive for sand/cement renders to produce dense impermeable renders in areas where water or chemical resistance is required.
Bedding Mix - used for bonding tiles, kerb stones, coping stones, mosaics, brick slips.
Patching Mix - used for patching renders or concrete.
Damp Proofing - used as a slurry for basements where dampness is expected from behind the plaster.
Flooring - used to produce high quality, hard-wearing floors.

I’m a sika fan for waterproofing, used them when we used to built/repair reservoirs/sewerage works for local authorities with my former company who had a concrete division for this kind of specialist works, I was on the M&E team not the civil team. But paid attention anyway as I was interested
