Seen a few of these machines on YouTube.

I wondered if the are actually worth it... 20g of filament is not a lot. If it could be easily joined with a quality joint so it is seamless to make say 0.5kg. Then it might be worth it. 20g of filament costs between 10-20 pence depending of the quality of cheaper brands..

Also the ones I saw had you heat up the plastic bottle to remove the shaping so that the bottle was a uniform shape often over a gas flame.

I also thought a two stage extrusion might give more consistent filament diameter, say 2.0mm first run, then 1.75mm on a second run.

How long would it take to collect and process 50 plastic bottles. Is it an efficient method of recycling?

Good on them for making it open source
