Mr Gus are you sure you cant point us all towards a photo to see the offending cover ? I'm sure if we could see it one or more of us would be able to advise you better.

For example if there's a blockage downstream and your cover has a gasket seal then you could literally be trying to lift a tonne due to suction pressure but until we see what you can its hard to say.

Cheers, I know where it is sitting as it happens about once per 7 years or so, this is number three (shifting two's)
Build up is straight under the cover.

Nearest access (from behind) is behind the tumbledrier, easy to remove, waste waer from downpipe nearby, I have a rubber cover that I can remove & pour a bio-waste eater down & see if that shifts it, as Im not convinced my bailey blues are flexible for that (+ insertion point is slap bang against the wall) ..luckily I made the insulation removeable there for plumbing access, ..never thinking of rodding from there)

Will see if wife has an upload site she uses, but doubtful.

Lid still needs removal as a matter of course for future maintenance, don't want to spend nearly £100 on use once kit though, ..dilemma.

If you can get the picture MrG that will, I am sure, release an avalanche of suggestions.

A bottle jack can be had for about £20 and a set of lifters for £15 so I'm sure some bodgeneering could be easily done.

Could you knock something like this up Mr G, maybe ?

A wooden beam sat across the cover raised on wooden sheets to spread the load and two threaded bars with T heads mounted to them and then a socket and ratchet to apply an even load - should spring it clear - or lift the frame

Yeah, it looks a distinct possibility with a bit of thought.
Would prefer the hire of dedicated kit but either route to get it done has drawbacks, I might have an offcut suitable, what is the typical strength of a fencepost that has sat inside storage in the sun for 10 years? ;)

& what to lubricate seal with at point of release, clean, & re-fit?

Just poured a natural ezymes bottle down the loo to try & reduce blockage build up so I can take a shower, & run the washing machine without pressing pause when draining to allow flow to adjust.

Is it just a screw down or are there lifting eyes in it??

If it is as stuck as you say you are probably best off battering the shit out of it with a sledghammer, rip it up and replace lid and frame with something that has a proper system for lifting in the future. I have spent many an hour trying to prise these things up, welding up some lifting hooks from re-bar mostly to no avail. Go to a good tile shop and source a few new tiles first and you will save yourself a bunch of heartache. And it wont cost a lot of money.

Really do need a piccy mate.

I'm sure someone laughed at me when I mentioned it to them about 20 years ago, so I was half expecting it to be a figment of my imagination!
