New Rotary Dryer Install

I guess its greener drying clothes outside on a line of sorts than in a tumble dryer.

The old one had lasted over 10 years but was wearing out, a few lines had broke or stretched and a handle to raise it had recently broken off with little chance of finding a replacement. The old one fits into a plastic socket which I concreted in and I was hoping a new one would fit within it as I bought the same brand.

Of course it doesn't and to make matters worse the new one is not as tall, to SWMBO serious displeasure. In fact it was non negotiable.

OK I could maybe lift up the new socket into a concrete pillar off the floor to give it more height. Luckily I already had all the stuff necessary, some very old cement, sharpsand, masonry screws and some scrap wood. Decided to do it the lazy way and fit a block onto the top of the old one.

I'll see tomorrow if the old cement still works.

Thats no block its one of those new fangled thermal mass storage heaters!

They are so posh at Nowty power stations that they don't use mere blocks!, repair, re-use, put it in the shed because it will come in helpful one day, recycle.

Do you have a thread with your culvert photo's on here? I'm working on a culvert screen project with a colleague, and was telling him about what you built. It'd be nice to show him the project. (we are NOT EA by the way!)

Not on here as it was at St Elsewhere, although there is a short summary of it here on another thread which includes the scariest picture of all time.

The EA know about it and they even drove a remote pig through it only a few months back.

The brick looked to me like it'd been in the oven at some point...

I still have one tray of block paving bricks left for the octopus saving sessions. ;)

Thank you for posting that! I had a browse through your posts, but didn't find that one.

It'd be interesting to see if your pipes make it on to the culvert inspection report.

The block looks about right although the concrete is still a bit soft in places, so I'll leave it about another week for it to harden off.

I slotted the dryer in briefly, looks like its going to pass the SWMBO height test now. :D
