I haven't looked at this unit specifically but they may have gone for a LLC style topology; gives you a transformer with significant leakage inductance, but a much smaller primary-secondary capacitance so you reduce common-mode current injection through the bias transformer.

Can't imagine these units last very long if installed somewhere cold etc.

If the original claim was made in the UK is it worth putting it to the ASA?

Yes, their code which I just looked up (https://www.asa.org.uk/static/47eb51e7- ... p-code.pdf) says
MISLEADING ADVERTISING

Rules
General
3.1 Marketing communications must not materially mislead or be likely to do so.
3.2 Obvious exaggerations ("puffery") and claims that the average consumer who
sees the marketing communication is unlikely to take literally are allowed
provided they do not materially mislead.
3.3 Marketing communications must not mislead the consumer by omitting material
information. They must not mislead by hiding material information or presenting
it in an unclear, unintelligible, ambiguous or untimely manner.
Material information is information that the consumer needs to make informed
decisions in relation to a product. Whether the omission or presentation of
material information is likely to mislead the consumer depends on the context,
the medium and, if the medium of the marketing communication is constrained
by time or space, the measures that the marketer takes to make that
information available to the consumer by other means
Claiming to "double someone's annual savings" looks like a serious claim ("material information" in their terms) to me...

Agreed, without validation immersun is selling no more than expensive boxes full of horsesh1t along the swindlesave (windsave) company route.

Hope someone can speak to an actual real life competent technical advisor from the company, not merely anonymous spod on phone exaggerating the kits ability, because its credibility is taking on water like that of the titanic right now.

Insightful, review from the trade as to how pee'd off they are with the high failure rate they experi over a short period.

Multiple repeated product failures
We are installers of Solar PV systems and hot water diverters. We used Immersun for a period of about 6 months and had multiple failures, roughly 20% by my estimation.

It's gotten to the stage not where they will not return emails or phone calls for repair / warranty.

Absolutely dreadful company to deal with.

100% avoid at all costs.

The Eddi is the best of a bad bunch in this product category.

The eddi isn't designed for reliability either.

Hello all,

Thought I'd share an update with the forum – happy to report that, like others, I've successfully fixed the Immersun 'Error 9' issue by replacing the T1 transformer. Huge thanks to everyone, and in particular to Stevews for the detailed guidance shared here and in PM.

This is the transformer I bought: https://store.open-electronics.org/volt ... -SVL101201

That's €8 at the time of writing, and they charged €21.76 for delivery to the UK (Northern Ireland). Once ordered, it arrived very quickly. I'm not handy with electronics, so a helpful neighbour stepped in to make the replacement.

One point to note is that all settings were lost in the process, including savings history. Worth taking note of it all before starting work on the unit.

For anyone being quoted £199 by Immersun to even look at the device (and no money back if not fixed), this is absolutely worth trying!
