What happens in the scenario where the power's out, it's been blowing a gale all night, the batteries are full and there's nowhere for the inverter to push more power and load the wind turbine?
I don't know the answer. I think some turbines cut out, maybe some inverters shut down and let the wind turbine do whatever it would do in a power outage and some utilise a dump load to maintain generation until deman is required again. Either way, I think it needs to be considered.
It's a setup I'd like to achieve one day. But sounds quite expensive.

Our Hermit has shown his big air-cooled resistors on a thread here, I think, but I don't know how much output they can cope with. If not here then it's on his blog.

What happens the wind turbine disintgrates without load. So you need a BIG energy sink and another auto switch. What happens to your wind turbine now?
