Helix type turbine....

#1

Post by ecogeorge »

Had a day away in Rhosilli (Wales) this week. Stayed at Worms Head . Pleased to see the coastguards look out still operational.
They have replaced their Rutlandwind turbine with a helix type vertical rotor and say its maintanance free ! no salt spray affecting yaw or bearings ..... Was absolutely whizzing -but it's a bloody good wind spot......

Regarding pic 2.
Maybe a simple rain collector to measure along with other elements (wind speed) how surface is holding up on an exposed area to make sure it is not overly prone to breakaway erosion?

Or if there are delicate mosses there to see how adaptive / or not, they are.

George, did you pop inside to see how it was working with the building frame in terms of vibration, specs, or similar?

A VAWT mounted on a roof building is a total chocolate teapot. We all know this. The physics doesn't lie.
