Interestingly, all of the schemes I looked at were proposing tri-floater semi-submersible foundations.

I get the impression that floating turbines are more likely to be used in the West Atlantic - e.g off the coast of Wales, West of Cornwall etc as the seabed is much deeper than in the North Sea - and there are good arguments for putting more wind capacity out there for different wind conditions to provide more wind power more of the time...
