The average investment per person for GF was £2.3k and I think it was similar for KH.

So thats 20000 x £2.3k = £46m

Which is similar to the cost of a 49.9MW solar farm which seems to be a popular size, I think because of planning and grid connections.

So the delay could simply be they had to wait until they had 20,000 folk putting a reservation fee down to make it more likely of a successful fund raiser. It could also be they need sunny weather to launch it, as could be a harder sell over the winter months.

They put the savings payback from 2025 in their calculator which suggests the solar farm wont be built till next year. I note one 49.9MW Solar farm got the go ahead in Jan this year but construction is not starting till 2024. I am not suggesting for one moment that its this one as there have been a few that have been approved recently. But it gives you the idea of the timescales.

50MW is the threshold between national and local planning. It looks like the government was set to change the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project rules, but backtracked.

What will folks thoughts be if this is both late & a countryside wrecker? (IE acres of panels with no grazing & the like)?

This element of the uncertainty of fields of solar versus field with solar that is still productive from ripples usual lack of pre-project information to clue people in versus a blind buy, I'm not a fan of agriculture OR solar, it's way out of date with bi-facial & modern mixed use solar projects elsewhere.

Found this link posted on the Ripple community page and discovered it really informative about current wind generation around the UK. Unfortunately GF is not listed, but that might be a lot to ask to have data for a single turbine. While a nearby complex was listed and producing @76% when I applied the current output from our Dashboard to our shares maximum it translated to 75% capacity, so close enough for me. :)

Thats a great find.

The windfarm nearby GF is called "Pen y Cymoedd" on that link.

Pen y Cymoedd is currently at 94% and GF is at 96%.

Looked at this earlier today, excellent wind flow graphics. 👏

I scrolled out and an interesting whirlpool type wind event off the SE edge of Greenland. Clever stuff this.

The bonny Easter Monday weather (completely unexpected), masked the outstanding performance from WT1 today ongoing. We lost 5kWh from Victron shutting down as I didn't leave enough headroom last night. Ah well!
