Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

There is an absolute £100k limit on one member in the Co-Op, even if he could use all the power. I believe moneyman bought in as a purely financial investment (similar to the Welsh Government) although I think he was already a Co-Op member with a small personal holding like ourselves.

However the money was already on the table from the Welsh development bank, but because of him was not needed.

Oh i'm not knocking it trust me, I am glad he has green roots, & the "ripple for companies" thus makes sense in plugging gaps & taking advantage of any tax concessions available.

You do wonder therefore why the Welsh govt were slow on the uptake (all those council accountants must know math)as to powering council offices & charging fleets of incoming EV's etc.

Me neither, I guess ii am slightly railing against the opportunity as I see it of so many families to make a clean no hassle entry into RE power and they missed it. My son & I are investing in WT2 and also 3&4!

Because from the outset the investment did not look very good, only a 3p / kWh rebate, complicated structure and lots of upfront risk.

I think this is what NextGen have bidded for and Ripple Energy have joined their consortium as an agent to sell parts of it back to consumers using their model.

Lets hope NextGen are one of the winners.

It is an interesting one and I have my fingers crossed for Nextgen. I'm thinking about buying some Equinor in March to side myself with a company brave enough to do the first UK floating WT. The ROI isn't massive but it would be nice to add to the portfolio. Also and this is vanity speaking, pretty cool to add offshore wind to 'The things we're into'.

Checked our Ripple dashboard and they have updated the return figure for the 1st year. (about 9.5p/kWh of estimated generation).
It is now more than our annual electric bill + gas standing charge (we are trying to not use any gas).
Our average rate on Go Faster, for all imported electric, is less than 6p/kWh, compared to the return of over 9p/kWh for estimated generation from WT1.
Not a bad return & a very pleasant surprise.

Snap, life's a b1tch ain't it.

Gaz is £300 in credit and my bill is now almost fixed at £10 a month as I now only use gas for some cooking.

Leccy is £500 in credit and like you say the bill is soon to go seriously negative.

My Solar PV FITs this year will be around £3,300 a year with 13 more years to run, so some of this years FIT income will be recycled into WT2 for diversity, redundancy and that little bit of extra power.

And yet some people still call this stuff "the green crap".
