I'm away to set up another weather point on my phone so I can keep an eye on Graig Fatha. I wonder if it's on yet?

Wonder if there will be any money back in April, or whether it will be May before we see it?

I reckon we'll see something in April. Qualifying this with the reasoning that Ripple gave only been stalled by issues outwith their control. Hopefully Octopus will be on the ball. TBH, I am kind of mentally disconnected from the money at the moment and just glad to be a part of a green power generation unit. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the money too! Not THAT angelic!

again, I thought it was the other way round. The suppliers are not obliged to accept any new customer and don't want to lose money, so will only offer you a variable (or a fixed high) tarriff, which are currently only on offer at an extremely high price.

The price cap only applies to energy supplier default variable tariffs. As the price cap doesn't increase until April, suppliers can only currently charge a maximum of the October price cap, which is less than it costs them to buy it, so they're mostly avoiding offering variable tariffs at the moment.

They can however charge what they want on fixed tariffs so can make money on those, assuming they buy their energy in the appropriate way.

I think this bit from the link just illustrates the current situation and who knows how bad it will get with the war situation. The ripple share offer doc for WT2 is just far too conservative, just like WT1 was and it goes operational this week.

The 1st year at WT1 is already a locked in price per kWh I think? That should work out OK for Octopus.

'When wholesale electricity market prices are high, like they are now, Ripple members savings are high. The members of our first wind farm, Graig Fatha, are set for bumper savings in their first year. Savings in the first year of operation will be 9.5p per kWh, more than triple the level expected when the wind farm was launched in summer 2020 (when prices were particularly low). '

It isn't worded as clearly as I'd like it to be. Is the 9.5p the generation price per kWh that will show up on our bills or has it risen to a 9.5p saving due to retail electric prices rising? As I said yesterday, looking forward to the green machine cranking not the cash. In saying that this is my Monday Morning thought. Best of fortune to them onsite today!

Is that figure the 1 year lock in figure for generation at the mast negotiated with Octopus?

Yes, the figure is locked in for 1 year and reviewed annually
With the price spike at the moment it may even stay up depending on when prices settle again

Save me scratching through both posts n' paperwork people, but can anyone recall how long the WT2 prices are set for? I seem to recall 4 years (for some peculiar reason) ..which with news of Graig Fatha seems way out of step.

Like WT1 it will be whatever it will be closer to the time, both on price and duration. For example, for WT1 ripple stated at the AGM that they could have gone for a 3 year deal but the price would have been lower. The price in the share document for WT2 is simply set to the Government forecasted figures which are just that, a historic forecast.
