Octopus consumption data now available on your Ripple dashboard

Ripple has sent me an email instructing me how I can link my Octopus account to my Ripple dashboard by allowing Ripple to access the API data feed from Octopus.

Whilst it might be nice to be able to see the info, I an inclined to ignore it. I don't want Ripple to see my actual energy consumption which can vary from month to month especially if I use my EV a lot and am not away from home much. I just might have looked at to two high consumption months when estimating my annual usage for investing in Kirk Hill.

On the other hand, I might be joining those who install an ASHP/AC in the next year or so.

Same here John S. Not a fan, I'll decide my 120%! Maybe after Proj 3 if I see an advantage.

Guys, you know I'm not a "rape via data" fan, so this is where you need to read the small print re data options / total shut out / soft option workarounds with minimal exposure to having your private data shared around like a gangbang whore at a squaddies army barracks (see the recent news)

It may be possible to do before it gathers steam, give them a chance & ask for its implementation.

Is this sort of integration something you could do in Home Assistant? I've recently set up Home Assistant, running on a Raspberry Pi (with a HDD for data storage) and I am very impressed with the whole idea behind it. It is based on data privacy and doing everything locally if you wish, with no exposure to the internet and all the data snooping etc goes with that. Steep learning curve but in general it's been reasonably easy to set up. Right now I have it limited to pulling data from the inverter and some temperature and humidity sensors but have managed to put together an easy to understand display (even my wife understand it and can work out when it's OK to switch things on).

I'm not sure if you can pull in data from Ripple but I am pretty sure you can do this from Octopus. It may be that this could be a reasonably private way of integrating the two into a handy home display.

Considering the relationship between ripple & octopus, (who are keen to do the right thing more than many corporate energy entities) I think it's not a big ask, & should be optional (esp bearing in mind eu data law adoption).

I put the API in for my father's account.

Guess what day I visited him and plugged in my EV.
