Mingyang 18-20MW wind turbine!

And just like that, we now have the first 18MW+ turbine platform.
A rotor diameter of almost 300m. That's just insane!

If the arms race doesn't end soon, all the Western turbine manufaturers will end up going bust.

My guess is that offshore crane height will eventually be what slows things down. Lifting hundreds of tonnes hundreds of metres in the air is a challenge. Also, floating foundations in the 20MW+ scale are already pretty hefty ~5000 tonnes.
