Seems like even though the “de facto ban” of onshore wind no longer exists technically, in practical terms nothing has changed.

Greenpeace's UK policy director seems to suggest that the UK stops at England, "But as things stand, you’ve got more chance of spotting a flying pig than a new onshore windfarm in the UK.” :FP:

Yes, I noticed that, quite a gaffe especially when we are eagerly awaiting the switch-on of our own brand-new onshore windfarm in the UK. Maybe he is part of the inner London/Westminster circle - in which case he needs replacing!

I recently bought into the Grimsby Community Energy Coop and in a news letter they said, :xx:

"Grimsby Community Energy are currently applying for funding to explore the possibility of bringing wind turbine power to North East Lincolnshire, we are currently asking members and the general public to complete a short 4 question survey which will help us in the funding bid."

In fairness, it takes time. Usually a desk study is carried out, then wind speed measurement is started before planning is submitted.

Oh dear, it seems Nimby's get everywhere. I thought the artists impression of their view to be rather biased as it showed the turbine blades as full circles, like a disc. Discovered there was a poll at the end of the article with boxes to tick either for or against so natuarally ticked the most appropriate.
Would the Nimby's prefer a Nuke or Gas station up there I wonder. :head-bang:

I'm sure I'm not alone in liking the look of WT's. I think they are stunning, and add to view. But I appreciate that others may find them detrimental to the view ..... and possibly most don't realy care .....

...... but, the real object here is to fight AGW and pollution, so I wish folk would see the bigger picture, rather than just the WT's.
