Maximising export

#1

Post by Windbag »

If this is on the wrong forum, please feel free to move it. Was quite a tricky choice.

I have recently moved, my export away from my fits supplier to get a better price.

It would now best NOT to use my own generation. I have 10 wind and 10 solar on 3ph.

Can anyone think of any changes (other than going nocturnal) including configuration or cabling changes that would help maximise export.

Any thoughts appreciated!
We make 10kw solar 13kw wind, some bread and lots of beer.
We grow & cook loads.
We eat Fibre, Fat & no Fecking barcodes.
We swear at the heat pump (not strictly true)

What configuration/cabling are you using? What distances are involved? Have you an export limit?

No limit.
Turbine 3ph across all 3
2 Solar arrays, 1ph. Both on live 1.
I fancy moving these to live 2 & 3 on switches.

You get paid more to export than it costs you to import? Batteries?

What export tariff have you gone for ?

Depending on that depends on how you may need to change your setup.

For example, if its say Octopus Fixed (currently 15p / kWh but I doubt that will stay that high for much longer) then less need for batteries as the export is not time dependant and you have no export limit.

If its Outgoing Agile, where the high payments are typically between 4pm and 8pm, then batteries and an inverter capable of forced discharge would be better.

I'm ignoring the import aspect here, as thats just too complicated to answer as there are too many unknows about your usage habits.
15.2kW PV > 100MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 19MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 490 m3
