A Grant for Solar PV : Is it taxable ??

#1

Post by SporranMcDonald »

I received a grant from National Energy Foundation, via the "Superhomes" project.

I have already contacted the NEF person who dealt with my application . . . but on holiday until end of August.

Any experience or knowledge of such here ? . . . of the Tax/Exempt situation .. . . NOT the holiday :?

5 Kwh Air-to-Air Mitsubishi Heat Pump : single-split
Jotul 602 wood-burner ( 2012 )
Ripple : Graig Fatha & Kirk Hill . . . . plus various other renewable projects.

So that sort of info is not even on the website, or even common knowledge to those not off till august, or a simple "can't be arsed" brush off from staff!?

To be fair : . . . . . My Emailed question was addressed exclusively to the person at NEF who dealt with my Grant Application.

I could email a more general NEF address, but :-
- HMRC Self-Assessment is a long way ahead.
- I'd rather target a person most likely to know rather than spraying around NEF . . . . [ apart from you super-knowledgeable folk. ]

PS. I bet that most people who have received such a Grant don't even think about Tax Liability/Exemption.

PPS. I'm thinking about it, because of the potential Tax Liability for Solar PV Export Income. . . . .which I only became aware of due to Ripple lobbying for equivalence ( which as-far-as-I-know they do not yet have ).

i.e. Any income (£s) above 120% of Home consumption (kWhs)

Well explained, ..I did have a quick nosey at their site which seems to be small yet diverse, I have no idea what it is up to or where it fits into the "national" scheme of things, .but yes maybe ask more directly & persistently as to whom holds the knowledge beyond that singular entity. ;)

Eithetr way another renewables growing pain we will need to get heads around doubtless.
