silicone recipe in Lava lamps doesn't like excess heat (beyond the bulb) or sitting in direct sunlight, ruins the wax / silicone oil mix.

But if it isn't an original craven walker / Mathmos then no bother (car boot for a quid to replace) ..which judging by the dome it is not, which is why I didn't comment till now.

Its years old, at least 15. Dunno what's in it but its ok so far im not worried. What's that cracking sound?

Always liked a lava lamp.

If it spills on the floor it becomes a PA-lava lamp (boom tish)
clean up is not nice, so careful where you chuck those logs.

Extension to woodstore via a couple of europallets and chainsaw. This one is closest to house so should have about 2.5cubic mtrs stored for Winter. Well chuffed,couple of tweaks and we'll start filling & drying.

Scored abother 1/2 tonne or so of odd sized and knotty huge logs yesterday. Cedar, smell is fantastic!





This is the new 2 pallet easy access store at side of house across tar and slabs so Winters restock of garage should be a doddle! Just to split and stack and we'll be good.

Aye it's quite a thing. SWMBO drew a line at double rowing logs in garage hence the 2 pallet roof bridging an existing space close to garage door. We like a developing plan here!

The third day in a mediocre, marginal solar sequence. Fortunately both arrays worked away well and threw out a combined 15 kWh. We are are now down to 25% soc in the stack but luckily it's 25% of 14.4kWh not 4.8kWh as it once was.

The best today has been the woodstove, fired up on dry dry logs but run on low air in, slightly above a smoulder with low flames. Fulfilled the role of cooker, kettle & tumble dryer in the afternoon into evening and brought the house up nice and slowly to a good temperature without blowing us out while allowing the slow flow of electrons to continue from PV arrays to battery stack unimpeded and accumulate.

Further learning has been the extremely dry logs CAN handle the low smoulder without belting out excessive smoke.

SWMBO is currently kicking back downstairs watching some stuff on the 65" curved, grooving on her 25% soc, fully aware of the synergy that made it happen with no grid draw. Epic, epic day in its own way.

P.S, Big ass tv, freesat box, a couple of lights up and downstairs. Total power?.... 297.68Wwith 15W of that being sent gridward, wow! Think of those 100W incandescent bulbs.

Yes, when I moved into my current house 12 years ago the kitchen had 8 x 100w spotlamps !

its come down over the years, from 8 x 18w compact fluorescents to 8 x 15w LED to even more efficient 8 x 10w LED and the light output is roughly the same. The first LEDs used to blow in circa 6 months, but the newer ones now seem to last almost forever.

SWMBO & I were just having a float about in the pool and chatting about Winter plans. From out the blue she said 'can you use some of those storage heater bricks at the woodstove'. I just stood there as she grinned at me. Project ahoy!
