Entertainment manager to the collies

#1

Post by Stan »

I no longer have my own collie but over the road at the farm I look after the needs of 7 adult collies and lately 7 pups, which have just passed 2 months of age. Last evening 7 pups went for micro-chipping and today they will get their important injections. There’s a good chance that one of them will find a new home today as well. So here’s one pic of myself with their mum Tan on my knees, plus dear old Meg.
The other pic shows the clump of seven pups.

Don't tell that to Nowty, he'll be thinking of wrapping copper microbore around them next   it's only a little crazier than an oven full of bricks :D

All 7 pups went for their jabs and I’d wondered about the logistics of getting them all from Land Rover into the veterinary practice. Apparently 4 nurses trooped out to collect them and said come back in an hour and a half (while we have fun playing with them).
They voted this one as the favourite. Pardon the cobwebs; I brushed them off next day.

Here you are Stan, here is our working sheep dog JORDI.

He came from a working farm that had cows. We have sheep and cows. He is supposed to bark at the cows, but no he will not. He treats them like big sheep. However If a male heifer turns and puts its head down then Jordi comes behind me.!

But he works sheep and cow herds very well, as long as i am there.

At the moment we have no sheep and we are not called upon by our local dairy herd as the Farmer has finished the milk herd. So he just chases me about when i am on our small tractor and trailer. He is also fantastic at stopping every bird from attacking me when i am working outside. Vicious sparrows here you know. haha

Note, He will not chase and fetch a ball, he will not fetch a stick and he will NOT go into water. Must be the French genes/ hahaha!

Mrs takes him for a grooming every 2 years or so, he lives in his outside kennel, and as soon as he returns he always finds the freshest Cow pat and has a good roll in it.
