Not only do this nonsense help to slow down a transiton to low carbon transport, but it also takes RE H2 away from viable uses, like decarbonizing the fertilizer industry. Just increasing demand for H2 by uneconomical uses like these, pushes up the cost of RE H2 for other sources. It's such a pain.

Just out of interest - when they burn Hydrogen in an ICE vehicle does it cause early fatigue fracturing of the piston crown and cylinder through Hydrogen embrittlement or haven't they managed to get that far in terms of hours run or have they already addressed the potential problem before it occurs ?

I've been on the primary mill first stand when a 7.5 tonne ingot has literally shattered like a piece of glass due to Hydrogen at the grain boundaries - it was amazing to watch it disintegrate into smaller shards and pieces as though it was a piece of ice and not steel.

That must have been a sight!

Don't think I've read anything at all about long-term reliability of hydrogen ICE. I suspect it's just one of a long list of things that suck about hydrogen combustion.

I got thrown off the old forum for explaining that “the only product of burning hymn an ICE is water” wasn’t true!

Indeed not - at its most efficient stoichiometic point, you get a massive amount of NOx - because guess what, our atmosphere as a hell of a lot of N2 in it!

Should we start an "Exiles" section here for all those thrown of the other place? :D

I was was thrown off twice, in the end I just stopped posting there, in case I inadvertently wrote something that caused the late Martin to hit the delete button again, as there seemed to be no rhyme nor reason for many of the bans.
25 off 250W Perlight solar panels, installed 2014, with a 6kW PowerOne inverter, about 6,000kWh/year generated
