I don't think so. Aren't Flettners spinning drums which generate forward "lift" by interacting with the wind?
I thought these were derived from sail and wind turbine blade designs to generate their propulsive force. (It says designed by an Olympic yacht racing team spin-off.)
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!

I think you're right, they're "Just" giant sails but made from fibreglass/carbon fiber rather than sheets and rigging!

Nice simple animation with some good shots of the leading and trailing control surfaces of the sail, I like the fact that its able to be retrofitted as well as new build.

It reminded me of the kites that were in vogue a few years back, I wonder what happened to them ?
