Has it changed much over time - they're very busy lobbing new satellites into the constellation every few days to increase coverage and capacity, but then I guess the number of users is also increasing?

According to this website (there's always a website) there are now over 6400 Starlink satellites on orbit.

Latency is not a problem with Starlink in my experience, my neighbour uses it for gaming and says it is good. It is definitely better than my LTE system particularly when it is busy here.

BT wanted about £5k to install fibre and a 3 year contract - I am not paying for them to install the fibre infrastructure on my street.
We also have copper at a max of 3.5 Mbps and have been told we will have FTP many times by openreach. (They couldn't organise a pxxxxup in a brewery though). Last time I asked I was told we will be able to order it in Jan 2025. I've been using a phone in the loft, with a 3 sim card in it and set on Hotspot for additional bandwidth for years. That's £11 a month unlimited data.

From my recent experience with them I think they probably could, it would just take 4 months with about 3 attempts before they could actually manage to get the beer out of the barrel and into the glass!
(they did pay me around £300 compensation for taking so long about my fibre connection though, so I'll be in credit until early next year).

Ah.. you have mobile coverage.

I could probably get a half-decent signal in the loft if it wasn't for the 2 layers of foil-backed Kingspan..

Now you've noticed one, you'll see them everywhere. Even on the top of food vans on the South Bank, or a kiosk on a sunflower field at a local farm shop.
Ripple Kirk Hill windfarm also uses one.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 26MWh generated
