Anyone on the forum got one of these yet?

My wife's Zoe is going back in October and the new Renault 5 is on the list but no sign of it in the UK yet; not sure it will be available in time.

Wife saw the Dolphin at Westfield shopping centre earlier in the week and is rather smitten.

Not got one, but have started to see quite a few BYDs on the roads in the last month or so. And this morning saw the BYD Seal in the metal for the first time - that's a really, really nice looking car. Very Tesla Model 3, but, somehow not. 82kWh battery, similar size vehicle, and a bit less expensive. I think they (and all the BYD vehicles) could sell very well

I just got one. I'm feeling it was a big mistake . I've had it try to force me off my lane into oncoming traffic. I've also found myself wrestling the steering wheel as it alternately tries to put me onto the verge and across the other lane repeatedly. It's quite violent as it does it. Then at other times it doesn't do it. I have no idea what the problem is, but I am close to reporting it to the relevant safety authorities when I work out who they are. I shouldn't need to be on tenterhooks wondering where the car is going to spontaneously launch itself.

If you get one, test it on country lanes without side lane markings. You might be shocked at how it handles.

Turning it off only lasts as long as the journey you are on :<

I’ve had several vehicles with lane control and I find it irritating and annoying. Also a little bit dangerous at times, so it’s not just BYD.
Some cars you can turn it off, on our fiat 500 e’s others you can’t our Mercedes EQC.

We have it in the kia, its part of the start routine for me to switch it off and put the car in i pedal mode before we depart, its no good for the country lanes where we live but its great on the A55 and motorways and there I put it on. You should be able to reduce the level of torque in the servos via the car set up menu or it could be a visit to the dealership to have them plug it in and do it for the BYD?

Might be a different model but the software architecture should be the same across the fleet give or take some nuances.

After a year or so of driving I have found the kia EV6 to be highly configurable for many of the attributes and for the minor things that are not so obviously configured I have adapted to them.

Quickly read a few items and some folk say putting the car in sport mode reduces the lane assist feed back and makes it smoother, that may possibly be of help to you ?

Thanks Moxi. Unfortunately the lane assist settings reset every journey, so it’s quite tedious having to set it up each start.

Interesting that there is a “moderate” setting I can’t change. So hopefully the dealer can tweak it as you say.

I’m going to talk to the lease company as it’s really not safe.

Hi Andy,

As I say for the most part I switch mine off as I start the journey, its habit for me to hit the power on button followed immediately by a long press of the lane assist to disengage it by then the car is "ready" and I pop it in to revere double flip the regen paddle to select I drive and then check mirrors , look over my shoulders left and right and reverse off the drive.

Good luck I do hope the lease company can help - I must say it looks like a good car other than this issue.

I was going to say it sounds like lane assist. Unfortunately they can decipher differences in road colour via tyre wear or cracks etc as the road markings in some cases. Mine certainly does on occasion.

Most new cars have intelligent lane assist, which learns how close to the line you normally drive, so you are not constantly fighting the counter steer. Its just a question of how long it takes to learn, With mine it takes about 5 muns to learn, but LA is also only a press of a button to turn off.

Standards agency is now DVSA, but manufacturer/dealer will always be your first port of call.

Sounds like a horrible implementation of lane keep assist/ lane departure warning.

Amazed you can't turn these things off and for them to stay off.
