Absolutely - nothing else makes sense or would be cheaper, looking forward to seeing the photos in due course. about 8kWp approx 4m wide and 8 meters long at a guess ?

Mmmn, Permitted development.
It would only generate in the first half of the day. Could be interesting though. The appealing part is that i'm reasonably sure that panels will be cheaper to install than 'real' roof materials.
It would be nice to have an outside covered workshop type area, plus I could nip out and sleep in the van and get some of that camping feel during banishment.
Longi 440's are £67.99 (15.4p per W)
Longi 535's are £79.61 (14.88p per W)
Dmeg 500's are £67.40 (13.48p per W)
Longi 425's are £57.08 (13.43p per W)
I'll leave those prices up for reference later, building in unit of solar panel isn't that different from building in straw bales!
Speaking to my electrician on tuesday when he fitted the inverter, and he said he has a pallet of 36 x JA 440W panels going at £55 per panel, and possibly less for a cash deal?!
Im after a few panels myself for upcoming projects.
20 in total.
I was thinking of going bifacial for all, so that i can extend part of the shed roof to make a bifacial greenhouse. It just made sense to order all the same type.
I could easily split that into 10 mono, and 10 bifacial though if you
Are interested in splitting a pallet Joe?
Plus anyone else in Aberdeenshire who wants some panels?!

Just had a perfect moment. Cooking in the van and my sawmill back country guy says he can do some ripping for me. That is enormously satisfying in such a simple fashion!

Il take 20 then and ask him for a best cash price for the full pallet.
Get back to you later on.
That potentially leaves 4 panels going cheap in and around Aberdeenshire area if anyone else is interested?!
I can deliver locally around Aberdeenshire, but unable to drive long distances these days, so welcome to collect if further away.

Thanks Nora, cool, cool! I'm not in a hurry as don't plan to get into it until the tail end of the year.
Sawmill guy got back to me and yes to some Arwen felled trees remaining.
Well there's millions of them but to a reasonable grade to build with I mean. Biggest I am looking for is 6" square posts at about 12 foot long and miles of 4"x2".
Absolutely no problem said the man. It'll be green and it will be larch so the timescale of the build will be dictated by moisture content.
Four strings of 3 panels and I'll likely pick up a Hoymiles unit and maybe a small Victron unit when I'm in Germany in Sept. If anyone else is wanting to dip their toe in Hoymiles world I'll be over there 29th Sept to 10th Oct in the van. Happy to collect while there?
Here's a few of the proposed site. I swear that lassie runs me like a wind up toy!

You might want to chose 4x4 posts rather than 6x6, your back will appreciate it!

I'll get a better feel for it today when I pull together a timber list. I have the habit of over engineering my structures.
