No probs ;)

Are you there for Bastille Day (14th) ?

Worth finding a reasonably sized town and join in the celebrations.

We managed it when the kids weren’t too small or teenogres.

Celebrations proper started late and ended up with alfresco music & dancing followed by fireworks.

Celebrations continued in the small hotel we were staying in until 04:00 (according to the very tired host at 07:00 when we got up :hysteria: ) though we were long asleep by then.

Sadly no, coming back over on the 11th. Family coming over from NZ. Sounds good though. Next year we'll cross at Newcastle or Hull. Those 3 sets of unmanned roadworks on the way down were miles long in tailbacks and the stench of fuel was not great even as I contributed to it...

Bastille day sounds 👍. Fancying some cycling on the Rhine cycle paths for next time in Europe with SWMBO. No1 & I are coming over in Sept this year. Belgium mostly.

WBSx2
Low energy bulbs
Veg patches & fruit

I find myself welcoming roadworks and heavy traffic in the EV!

Every few miles of rolling traffic seems to be a charging stop that can be skipped!

(I know Bjorn has proved that it is quicker to nail it and charge more frequently than drive slow and skip the charging stops.)
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
6x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (14.4kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Naughty but nice ;)

Another ‘delicacy’ we always brought home with us is tins of Confit de Canard - usually either two or five pieces of duck.

The duck is slowly cooked in duck fat then preserved in said fat.

To cook, open the tin, warm slightly to melt the fat, remove duck pieces and re-roast in a hot oven.

Use the fat in the tin to roast your tatties.

I think it’s delightful - tender, tasty duck meat and crispy skin.

Makes good roasties too.

Worth keeping a few tins in the pantry for a quick and easy impromptu ‘gourmet’ meal.
Thanks BTB, bought 4 big tins and many others as well as saucisson and boxes of wine. If its as good asi hope I'll load up big time in Sept further nuclear bunker (garage shelves). Would be cool to have a French section there. Bit of lunch then off to next site which is at a Chateau.

If you haven’t already bought some, Cassoulet in bottles/jars is very good.

I’d steer clear of Andouilles and Tripes - unless your into intestine sausage or tripe.

Currently in the town of EU on their Municipal campsite. Really nice Chateau a,few hundred mtrs away, river running through the grounds. All very mellow.

Went past Penly nuclear plant on the run in. Couldn't see anything of the plant, very well landscaped but the transformer station and outgoing power lines were to a scale I've never seen. :o
