Very exciting! You ordered your EV ages after I ordered mine and I still have 3 months to wait!

What was the battery percentage/indicated range when you collected it? What was the same when you got home?

Are you charging with peak-rate electric or are your batteries sufficiently full and your inverter sufficiently powerful to charge the car?

Well done mate. I love the colour, I think it's just a pleasant coincidence, but I noticed the aero covers match our MSM paint colour quite well, giving the impression that they are colour coded.

But be really careful with the phone app, I accidentally slipped one day and by complete chance 'butt dialled' the power boost (~100bhp). Speaking of butts, and Gus mentioning the voice command, when you next park up, try 'open butthole' and see what happens?

Happy for you I think they're great but we need a proper estate which can tow a track day car and our little Seat Mii is great for local journeys and the A6 Avant Quattro great for longer ones - I am half petrolhead and half green :D

So the only two things I don't like,

1) The boot access space, but already knew that and actually its not that bad and you can get other big stuff in via the rear doors with the seats down.
2) The visibility out of the rear windscreen is less than I am used to.

But apart from that everything is just better in every way.

In "Chill" mode the performance is similar to the BMW i3 and I freak out SWMBO when I floor the i3, I reckon I'll get her to scream in this. Normal mode should be renamed as Insane mode, but I think I might just get used to it.

It handles better and gives a better ride than my ford focus, which if it failed on one of those I would have been disappointed. Really surprised on the handling considering its an American car. I gave the breaks one good push and they are pretty powerful.

Using the autopliot, I'm still learning. On motorway / dual carriageway its simple and works great but it did lock me out once for the rest of the journey even though I was holding the steering wheel. On single carriageways, autopilot and self steer surprisingly still work but not always and on one 60 mph country road with some nice fast bends it freaked me out a couple of times because I normally steer into the bend early whereas the car did not but it still got round, but it gives you this split second of panic in your head.

Another time on autopilot I decided to turn left at the last minute and found I had to wrench the steering wheel quite hard to get it to turn. It seems to know roundabouts are approaching and slows down nicely just at the right time for you to take over.

The safety aspects are incredible, go over the centre line, it freaks out at you, loud audible alarms and flashing red on the display. Driving into my home village a guy was crossing the road where he half crossed the opposing empty carriageway and stood waiting for the cars in my lane to clear and the car was freaking out again because it had detected a pedestrian standing in the road. It also gets you to stick to the speed limits and automatically changes the speed on autopilot.

I don't know the percentage on pickup because I had not worked out how to set it to % until I got home the second time. It indicated 130 miles range on pickup. I charged it for 2 hours in the sun at home and increased that to about 175 miles. Its now down to 30%, I could maybe charge it up a little each day if its sunny on the solar but I think I'll initially put some in tonight on the off peak tariff. And as we are now past the equinox, sunny days will become shorter.

I swapped my Diesel A6 Avant for an XC90 PHEV. I found the boot on the A6 mainly existed to accommodate the boot-lid! The XC90 on the other hand got 20-miles of full electric, was rated at £0 for VED, was ridiculously-ludicrously fast, had a vast boot, and towed better than anything I've ever driven.

XC90 has gone now and an iD4 is on the way. Not as fast as the XC90, can only tow 1tonne, smaller, but fully electric...

Interesting and agree about tailgate depth :D but don't like SUV's and I doubt it would handle like the Audi!

Had to wait till my V5 document arrived which I needed a serial number from to change my number plate. Also since having previously had the plates made up with GB on them, the government changed its mind and has changed the GB designation to UK to appease Northern Ireland, and Europe now also require a Union Jack on it. So I had another set made as I am bound to have a Euro road trip sooner or later.

Anyway I still like the car, absolutely no regrets and I am doing the 250 mile drive to my parents at the weekend. I will try and limit my speed to see if I make it there without using a supercharger. The fallback is a short stop at either Keele or Charnock Richard Services on the M6. And I have the choice of two similar spaced superchargers on the return leg on the M40 and A34.
