Good luck driving any modern car with the powersteering disabled! Your biceps would last about 5 seconds.

I'm still after one joe, just the screen, original problem dating back a year.Joeboy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:37 pmI replaced the screen in my old leaf. Bought a full head unit for £100 from a breaker ,swapped the screen.over and got full touchscreen capability back. Can't swap out full unit as it's coded to car but screen is a yes.Mr Gus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:33 pm Yeah tech dominates way more than necessary, (though a heatpump is a must for a bev.
Which is why i love the early smart cars, ..got too big & bright after the 451.
Simple cheaper (no mad gang of app designers to screw the payroll further)
New screen for a low res nissan leaf 24kWh is dumb money.

I wouldn't have found that in a million years (blinkered focus) ..no idea there may be a working crib sheet fix.

Re: EV6 has landed
true, but that's because power steering racks/boxes are geared much higher than manual units: i remember driving a '70s era full size single decker coach (on an airfield) that didn't have power steering, and despite the tryes being soft, as long as you were moving even just a couple of mph you could steer it fine.dan_b wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:54 pm Good luck driving any modern car with the powersteering disabled! Comes to that, i used to have a series 2A LWB landrover with 235/85r16 tyres, and a tiny 10" steering wheel (don't ask), and non-power assisted brakes; the only time they were an issue was when i was following someone to Babbacombe(IIRC) beach in Devon:- as we shot off the main road past some triangular road signs i thought "did that sign really say 1:3 gradient?" Ooh, bu**er!!
I did indeed have good biceps when i had that landrover though
