My PCR test has just come back positive in the last few minutes which was another non surprise.

My daughters fiancé who started it, caught it from eating with work colleagues sitting outside. He has has just failed his day 5 test and he still has minor symptoms. My daughter does her day 5 test tomorrow, me on Sunday and SWMBO on Monday.

What has surprised me is just how quick this thing is, everyone got symptoms just 2 to 3 days after exposure, but you don't test positive on lateral flow until the day after you have symptoms but you seem to be infectious a day before even having symptoms. So that suggests you are infectious in as little as a day after being exposed and everyone was triple vaccinated.

Lateral flows do seem to have limited value. As I mentioned above my MiL was testing daily and only tested positive the day after she’d infected us. That was bog standard Omicron BA.2 seems to be infective for several days before it is detectable with LFT, interesting how evolution works!

Try to get outside in the fresh air and sunshine if possible.

My son has now been confined to his room for the last 3 days after feeling rubbish though all his LFTs have been negative, he's feeling better today but is about to take another LFT. He loves being in his room thankfully.

I thought the Zinc had sorted many of my long covid symptoms but after having a good few weeks the feeling of blocked ears, balance, headache (mild this time) and the tinnitus have come back.

Stinsy, bog standard Omicron is BA.1, the new "Stealth Omicron" is BA.2.

I am gobsmacked about the R0 values in this article, I recall the original Wuhan strain was about 3 or 4. But now they are talking about an R0 value of 12 making similar to measles.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/heal ... 35519.html

With regards to lateral flows and PCRs they have different uses. But for example, I ordered two PCRs for both myself and SWMBO on Monday when only I had some vague symptoms but based on our daughter and her finance tests we knew what was likely to come. We both were testing negative on lateral flow at that time.

I tested positive on lateral flow on Tuesday and SWMBO on Wednesday, but we both only got our PCR results back on Friday. So lateral flow was faster in practice by a long way even if its less sensitive.

The thing about transmissibility is that at a certain point there is nothing you can do, so you do nothing!

Hand foot and mouth is a good example. It is so relentlessly contagious that there is no point doing anything to prevent infection, so you might as well carry on as normal. Your SiL to-be is a good example. Socialising outdoors is a pretty safe thing to do in the scheme of things. And certainly we're confident with Delta you had to spend considerable time in an enclosed space with someone to catch it. Basic social distancing measures such as meeting outdoors and wearing a mask were effective. However with BA.2 transmissibility is so high that masks and basic measures are pointless so we're free to dispense with them. You might as well carry on as normal.

The population has decent immunity by now from vaccines and prior infection so symptoms are likely to be mild particularly in those who eat healthily and exercise.

When my daughter caught it a couple of weeks ago she moved into the spare room as it's bigger and has a TV. The only person that went in was my wife who wore an FFP2 mast and was meticulous about sanitizing after going in to her. We all tested every day, other than my daughter who tested again only after day 5. We have all stayed negative.

Regarding it being mild, you just dont know how it will effect you. I have and had a decent diet and have always been very active and the symptoms I got in Feb 2020 seemed very mild. It was only in July 2020 when everything changed. Since then I've really suffered and it's totally altered my life. If I still had the business I would have had to have closed it because their is now way I'd be able to run it. I've had numerous tests and they have all been OK but so far not the ones I really need. The symptoms are so weird and you just don't know what your going to get from day to day or even hour to hour. At this present moment the sol e of my right foot feels as if it's on a warming plate!! I can tick probably about 50% of the symptoms on the NICE long covid list that is 2 sides of A4. The daft thing is that you can only be referred for one thing at a time. The last choice was either the Long covid clinic or a neurologist and MRI.

My friends can't believe how it's effected me, I was always the one that never caught anything that was doing the rounds and if I did it was always very mild. I've always been in excellent health.

At the moment their is very little joined up thinking as mentioned in the linked video above.

To celebrate the 100% output of the WT1 today, I decided to buy Brill (big flat fish) on my Thursday fish run instead of our normal salmon. Its about 3 times the price and bought a bottle of reasonably priced champagne from Lidl to go with it.

On my return I was in a traffic que through some roadworks, was on the autopilot of the TM3 so its just like your not in a queue, the car stops and starts and steers by itself so its actually quite an enjoyable experience. Coming the other way was another TM3 driver, and as I had a big smile on my face from thinking about the Brill, Champagne, WT1 on 100% and the car driving itself. The other TM3 driver also had a big smile on his face and he saluted me as he went past. I was thinking, apart from the TM3, maybe he has a share in WT1 as well. 8-)

Another Thursday fish run today and this time ZEN had another surprise for me. As I have the full self drive package It has this navigate on autopilot function which just seemed to do the bleeding obvious and indicate that I need to leave the motorway at the next junction but I still had to nudge it to change lane to the off ramp of the motorway or motorway interchange which seemed to be no better than the enhanced autopilot.

Today I was generally paying attention to the actual driving but did I not realise I was about to pass my junction. Zen did a bing bong, put the left indicator on and changed lanes onto the off ramp by itself without any steering confirmation from me.

Mind totally blown.
