Stuck with a smug smirk on your face (on the m25 for 2 hours) you mean.
Long day for you no doubt, I get more peeved at others exhaust fumes in a jam than I do the jam itself for a good few years now.

You must have been busy playing with settings then?

Congratulations Stinsey I hope your recovered from yesterday now, we took the kids for a night away and just got back having used an InstaVolt to lift the battery from 65 to 80 % to give public charging a try - was faultless.

Happy driving

I think Stinsy needs a Camelot medal for perseverance - there is one isn’t there :?:

Glad it’s all turned out well and living up to expectations.

Didn’t realise you were a Stokey, though ;)

Day 2 of the iD4 and I put it to use ferrying the kids to/from sporting commitments and parties. Bit disappointed that I haven’t had the chance to pop my rapid-charging cherry, however the reality is that the car does short distances without breaking sweat and even long-ish distances are simple with no need for en route charing. I’m travelling to see my parents in April, 180 miles each way, so will need to stop and charge the car then (I’m not going to bother with the conversation about granny charging).

Overall, loving the car so far!

Managed to put 1500 miles on the car without needing to charge away from home. Visited my parents at the weekend (360 mile round trip) and while I did take the 10m granny, they didn't offer and I didn't ask. So rapid charging it was.

Stopped at Instavolt Banbury on the way back. c. 100 miles to home with 6% and 16 miles showing on the GoM. 5 of the 30-odd chargers were taken. I tapped my credit card, plugged in and it quickly ramped up to way over 100kW (the id4 has a max 135kW charging speed). Walked to Costa, used the facilities and bought a coffee. Walked back, made a phonecall, checked the dash and it was already at 125 miles on the GoM so unplugged and off I went.

What more can you ask for?

What was the cost per unit at that charger?

75p

Or 10x what I pay at home. But that isn't the point, the average cost per kWh isn't materially affected by these very rare long journeys. The point is the car can do occasional long journeys without stress, hassle, or multiple long charging stops.

I agree, but still think 75p a unit is outrageous and will adversely penalise those who cannot charge at home.

Most who will do the maths will see its cheaper to fuel a derv burner at that cost!

Do VW not offer an app that subsidises the cost at rapids?

Can ID range be charged at Tesla Superchargers? Cost should be about 46p which is more acceptable
