The new research is supported by findings from CENEX and OZEV which were compiled for the Department of Transport.
It found that nearly a fifth of new at home charge point installations installed as part of the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) had dangerous or potentially dangerous issues.
The same research found that only 32 percent of chargers were labelled as satisfactory.

This shouldn't be any surprise to anyone. Every time there are grants available the rip off merchants step in to make a quick profit and most of them don't give a stuff about doing a decent job. Same has happened with insulation grants, some friends of ours ended up with a massive insurance claim when their CWI failed. They had to move out of the house for nearly two months whilst the stuff was ripped out and all the damage it had caused was rectified.

Presumably fitting is via a qualified sparky, & signed off accordingly, should be able to make a claim against them /firm. (theoretically)
Lots of paperwork involved with electrical works esp govt associated funding.

Doesn't need a fully qualified electrician, unfortunately. Anyone that has done a short course at tech (often only a few weeks) can become an "approved installer" and fit these things, even if they don't have a scooby about the key stuff needed to do a proper job. Like many trades now there are quick routes in for people that only want to do a limited range of things and fully qualified electricians command more pay than the sharks out to rip off grant funding are prepared to pay.
