Excellent: zero energy transport (apart from the embodied energy, and all the steel in it - is there anything else? - will eventually be recycled too.)

The 1971 film "Get Carter" comes to mind, one of my all time favourites and it did occur to me a few years back when I re-watched it, whether the coal slag dumping system needed to use any external energy for its operation.

Ahem, some ropeways were very long indeed although powered. Clearly the friction is relatively low.
