It amazes me that any cities are still wasting their tax-payer's money on trialling H2 buses when BEV buses are already proven, reliable, and so much cheaper? 6 million Euros spaffed up the wall for 10 H2 buses, when they could have just bought more BEVs - they already run 120 of them in the same city for goodness sake.
What's also annoying about this story is that although they will replace them all with a BEV fleet "in the long-term", in the short-term, they're going back to Diesel.
H2 for ground transport is a myth that needs to end.

I think I heard something a day or two back, that Germany was having trouble with their new H2 trains too. Something about refueling, so only 2 out of 6 are opeational.
I guess a replacement H2 bus service is now out of the question!

I guess the lobbyists from the FF industry must be just so pretty that politicians become blind to the obvious facts: H2 is a scam, BEVs are the future.

German hydrogen trains will no longer be considered, as they're up to 80x more expensive to operate than electric trains - do you mean this?!

Yes, 80x and 80% more are rather different. But these reports are sometimes mind-bogling. Same report states:
And on the Nagoldtalbahn, the cost differences were even higher, with hydrogen coming in at €476m, compared to €262m for battery hybrid — 81% less
Now, how can those figures be compatible? (And yes, I can see how theyderived the 80%, but the language translation is pure carp)

I wish it was only “hydrogen” where municipal governments made such poor decisions.
My local council spent tens of millions on custom-made recycling vehicles only to shelve them and buy standard vehicles less than a year later…

I can see a figure of about 80% (82 actually, so it's not "up to 80%") but these journalists are either just incompetent or seriously unable to use logic, which amounts to the same thing. They have reported the number as incorrectly as possible (if there are degrees of incorrectness!)
I see 82%
more than 262 M Euros - which is 45% less than 476 M.

That is the same as the Boris buses then, but Boris blew a far bigger sum (and I think bankrupted the developer/builder in the process.)
