I know Tesla gets a lot of stick, especially at the moment given Musk's very public unravelling since his Twitter purchase debacle, but I've just read this story and it's really quite something. Lots of people say that Tesla have great crash safety, but I'm not sure anyone would have expected the outcome from this accident to be anything other than multiple fatalities.

Re: Tesla crash safety
Correct me if im wrong but to me it looks to me more like luck or EV-specific protection that saved those people rather than a Tesla thing. I saw crash tests of Tesla cars and there wasn't anything I would expect to give much more confidence during falling off cliff.
But I agree that it looks impressive.

Re: Tesla crash safety
Do the numbers actually support Tesla's being safer?
Re: Tesla crash safety
I want to know about the batteries & how they fared, bearing in mind the unjustified media b.s. about flaming teslas.
Clearly, thats a charred wreckage down there y'all see that, right !?
Nothing in the report about precautions taken due to bev, ruptured packs, shoreline contamination etc.

I know Tesla's tend to get the highest safety scores, but you'd think the fall (and movement inside) would be fatal. I assume all occupants were cushioned/pinned in their seats to avoid impact with the vehicle itself.
I'm not sure if it was just a joke, but apparently some of the first responders said that they gotta get a model Y.

Or to use the brilliant quote from Jack Palance (Curly) (City Slickers, when jokingly asked "Hey Curly, killed anyone today?") - "Day ain't over yet."

Re: Tesla crash safety
Must be something about "driving off a cliff" that makes them survivable. Here are two further stories from a while back here in the UK, one is a Vauxhall Corsa and the other a Ford Focus.

Ok they didn't fall quite as far.
