£999 ... you're avin a giraffe squire!

Wonder what the permit permission hurdles are, ..maybe ask MK council direct for some proper context.

They sort out all the permits / charges etc. Anything involving a council / gov is expensive!!

Only good if you can park right outside your house though every time you need a charge.

Maybe ok for some areas that aren’t so populated

I think the cost, as suggested relects installation and permitting. There are lots of relatively cheap products, just as an example:

Stormguard EV Charge Cable Gully 1m

Another idea I think is really good, is this product:

WHAT ARE WE HIDING? DISCOVER FLAT & FLUSH ON STREET EV CHARGING

Where the street pole, is actually carried around in the car with you. Allows for loads of pavement points, without all of the charger infrastructure (costs and obstacles).

Really deep dive, worth watching if you find the idea interesting:

Is This the EV Charging Solution We've Been Waiting For?
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

£999 for installation to a public road where anyone can park.
Can see an inflated sense of street parking ownership taking place, ..queue up charges for common assault & car damage, that your tesla "may or may not" register on camera, hard drive, tesla impact / distance sensors etc.

This is sensible as a home - road solution minimising trip hazard, but council & contractors need toensure all homeowners and future home owners are aware of its limitations as to kit & a long cable, if it doesn't reach your vehicle you have no claim on where the kit terminates, & maybe buy a longer cable.

This would have been useful at my old house - weren't always able to park directly outside the house but when I did that would have been a bonus.
Quite spendy but I guess it's as much to do with the cost of the admin with the local council as anything.

My other concern, non lockable.
Easily prone to grudgey / mindless petty theft.
How much for replacement top strips? ..of which for legal responsibility associated with this kit trip hazard) an heir & a spare ought be kept to hand.
