Oops, got an upgrade

So I did a naughty thing.

After having a Tesla Model 3 since October 2019, today I picked up a new one.
Gone up from a TM3 Long Range to the TM3 Performance. In Red.
My blue one will stay in the company and increases our pool of company EVs to 3.

First impression is that the Model 3 has changed a LOT in 3 1/2 years.
The car is noticeably quieter on the road (and I never thought the old one was noisy!). Acoustic glass definitely does something.
Ride is more comfortable, even with the 20" rims over the old one's 18s - how is that possible?
Doors close with more of a "thunk".
Interior materials and build quality feels a lot better.
The audio system sounds "different" - been fiddling with the EQ but somehow doesn't have the top end clarity of the older system?
It makes the sci-fi woo woo noises when doing low-speed manoeuvres. I hate that already.

The acceleration on the Performance model is absolutely brutal. And comes with some interesting electric whine noises that definitely weren't there with the regular Dual Motor

Yes, the stereo in ours (albeit limited speaker output) is not very good whatsoever, compared it to out loaner (twin motor, recent model) which had about 10% more substance & detail but really was still very uninspiring contrary to descriptions on you-tube of the separation, it was better but still passe. (then again it was my area) wife wasn't that impressed with the extra acceleration but as folks know that wasn't high on our list either considering it mainly has just one person in it 80% of the time.

I'd be interested to see the speaker cones exposed at some point

Here's hoping you don't go down our wormhole of "sh1t tesla" experience.

Do you get much opportunity to open it up properly dan? (london & that, or save it for those trips to france)?

We recently had a loaner M3P- that I agree, acceleration was great  Early car so a little rattly and quite noisy! Ride was ok on 19s, 38k miles old.

Just had another loaner, 2020 dual motor, was like a different car. Not quite as quick but definitely quieter and ride was really good, on 20s. 19k miles old

Just swapped that car (needed new rear tyres) for a 2019 dual motor. Ride is not good, even on 19s, very crashy, not good on Welsh lanes!! Has a lot more front drive unit noise too, 21k miles old.

Would we buy new, probably not. For our situation air suspension on our S means we can get it up here without grounding, something all the 3s have done. Plus S is just nicer to be in, seats are better and call me old fashioned, I like the extra screen😁

Test drove a Y recently too, now if the extra ground clearance meant we could get it here.......
