Electric trip to Barcelona

Ok I'm off on my travels again - this time to Barcelona.
But in a twist, my electric motive power this time is not my car, but the train!

Piccadilly Line to King's Cross
Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord
Metro to Gare du Lyon
TGV to Barcelona...

Currently en route to Paris having gone through Le Tunnel and gamboling along the LGV Nord at 300kph. Looking forward to the 320kph running speed on the Barcelona leg!

I was disappointed when, for a laugh, I tried to use a navigation app on my phone whilst on a TGV -it just stopped reading when we got over 200kph.

 I have to confess to flying to Lyon on my last trip to France as it was about 40% of the cost of Eurostar!

I'm a big fan of the European high speed rail network, it made my France / Switzerland / Italy trip last year incredibly straightforward.
It's just frustrating that the UK side from the north-west is so pedestrian in comparison.

I'll be interested to see how you get on with the Spanish leg, one direction I haven't tried yet.

Funnily enough I was behind Dale Vince on the travelator up to the platform in London!

Wish it was holidays but alas it's work again. Never mind it pays the bills.

The powers that be don't want phones to be used as guidance systems for cruise missiles, therefore there are speed and altitude limits built into the hardware to prevent this.

I saw 180mph on HS1 when I went to pick up my iD4 from Gillingham.

Last time I was in Japan with work, I downloaded a speedo app to watch how fast the shinkansen bullet trains were :D

Back in the day, 1990 we drove (3 drivers) a similar distance from Memphis to Flagstaff in a single day. And that was after visiting Gracelands and we all had hangovers. We did F1 pitstops, one refuelled the car, one when into Burger King and bought 3 chicken sandwiches and a gallon of coke, the other went to the loo.

We clocked over 10,000 miles in 4 weeks, hire car company had a fit when we returned the car, great days. :D
