I don’t want to teach anyone to suck eggs but this guide is beautifully put together. Not everyone will have an EV yet.

Thanks for posting, Stan,

The only real bit that he missed was the Tesla advice, to charge to 100% once a week (at least?), if it is fitted with a LiPO4 battery.

Likely the video was put up a bit too close to when Tesla started introducing LiPO4 batteries for the more ‘standard’ vehicles?

A good, enlightening video. But the Zappi needs careful consideration to judge the investment over return. My dumb charger was only about £250 all-in but no up-to-date price estimate for an installed Zappi. I can’t really decide on the best tariff (for me) yet - and I’ve had the car 7 months - let alone the best choice of charger.🙂

The best tariff is almost certainly Intelligent Octopus. And you can make your “dumb” charging point “smart” with a Shelly (or similar).

I have the cheapest EV charger on the market, dumb as a box of rocks, it has an extra online energy meter added by me to let me see consumption. Thankfully the car Egolf has a smidge of technology so I can benefit from the intelligent octopus tariff, but don’t see what spending on a £1k charger brings to the table

Solar diversion is a decent feature. However now you can get a decent price for your exported electric that's nolonger the big-deal it was.

Forgot about solar diversion as I’m a combi boiler without any preheat tank.

Good shout though for the export something like 15 pence I think
