Toyota fumbling again

So according to the latest nonsense from Toyota, they expect to be making more H2FCEVs (100,000 a year) than Battery Electrics

Even if they make 100k Mirais a year, they'll never sell 100k year. And they don't' expect solid state in meaningful quantities now until 2030 (and we all know how many times they keep saying their solid state batteries with 600 miles of range are just around the corner...

Why are they doing this?

Maybe just keeping their name in people's minds? We are told that there is no such thing as bad publicity...
I guess that they reckon the majority will get taken in and keep considering Toyota for their next purchase, whereas the few people who know anything about the subject are already lost to them as customers.

Toyota's strategy is to keep consumers believing that some magical new technology is just around the corner so that they buy another ICEV. The uncertainty created by the FUD means that consumers stick with what they know.
