I’m assuming this 600kW charger must be intended for HGVs, but also assuming the Cybertruck was pulling 800v rather than the 400ish volts that the rest of the Tesla vehicles do?

Yep Dan, getting there. Looks like they are steadily upping the charge rate on some CT's as they check how things are going.

In other CT news, it's now outselling the Rivian and Ford pickup BEV's, approaching 2,000/week production, and 4680 cell production ramping fast too, perhaps at an equivalent to 2,500 Cybertrucks per week.

Way too big for Europe, but every US ICE pickup displaced by a BEV is good news, especially given the poor efficiency / high fuel burn of full size PU's, in the 10-20mpg region.

Tesla stopped listing out S/X sales a while ago and now merges the sales of the S/X/CyberTruck into one figure, so we don't really know. I suspect they are to some extent - the S/X are old platforms now even with the recent facelift, and the S in particular has plenty of competition in that segment. The X was always weird. So can easily imagine people with that amount of money to spend on an EV (the CyberTruck is a $100k vehicle at the moment) may well be buying it instead of replacing their S/X with another one.

Tesla had global sales of 68,874 Model X/S vehicles in 2023, and 1,739,707 Model 3/Y.
Back in June when Tesla had to do an actual physical recall of the Cybertruck to fix the sticking accelerator pedal issue, that applied to all CyberTrucks sold to date then and it was about 11,000 vehicles.

As Dan details, too hard to say atm. Personally, I'd suspect most sales are simply due to its radical / stunning / supermegafugly looks at present, since it's such a different vehicle in many ways.

Also, at present, only the top models, costing $80k and $100k are available, and only in 'foundation series' packages costing another $20k. So as production ramps, and non foundation series sales begin (supossedly Q4), then more may be bought as work trucks, and then 2025(ish) the $60k model should reach production.

One guy uses it to pull construction equipment from worksite to worksite, instead of a Ford F-250. He claims to be saving about $65 per day in fuel costs, ($5 leccy v's $70 diesel) so some are doing real 'truck stuff'.


Not sure where to look for numbers, but I suspect the current annualised production rate closing in on 100k pa, means it's one of the higher production BEV's outside of China (and Tesla 3/Y) already. So it could begin to have an impact on US PU sales, but still a huge way to go, to get the US to BEV the PU fleet.

BTW on a similar note, but probably more important for fuel reduction - the Tesla semi production is ramping up at Giga Nevada, with lots of vehicles being filmed outside.

But the real news will be late(er) next year when production at the dedicated semi factory should start, after construction is completed.
