Useful EV chargepoint status reporting App

#1

Post by dan_b »

A little while ago I was made aware of a very interesting "community crowdsourcing" app called "And Charge".

This App encourages its users to seek out, visit, assess and test public chargers, reporting back via the App as to their condition etc. That data is shared back to the Charge Point Operators, so if there are issues they can fix them - ensuring the infrastructure works best for all of us.

By doing so you earn credits, and that is redeemable as actual real money.
So far I've used it to give me free charging via the Octopus Electroverse app, but you can also use it to get vouchers on Amazon or even donate to charity.

Over the last couple of weeks, I've assessed, photographed, and tested a whole host of chargepoints from a range of CPOs, including BP Pulse, Gridserve, Instavolt, Shell Recharge, Ubitricity and even Tesla. So far it's netted me £52 in charging credit so it does do what it says on the tin.

A cool little App with a feel-good circular economy vibe.

There is of course a referral code system in place if you do want to give it a try so here's mine!

Interesting. I struggle to use one particular pod point charger /their app and the EV Octopus card works a treat with it!, only other chargers I used were charge place Scotland when I first got the car and they were rubbish , type in the code on the charger and it says it’s 70miles away when it’s about 2 feet…. Not renewed that worthless card!
