Hydrogen bus fire...

from another forum:
Just hours after a press release was issued about it's arrival, the very first hydrogen powered bus of Arriva Netherlands caught fire after an accident in the workshop in their Doetinchem depot.
The bus was completely destroyed in the fire, as well as the workshop itself and another diesel powered bus which stood next to the hydrogen bus. The fire brigade managed, helped by the safety systems of the bus, to avoid an explosion of the hydrogen tanks.

Another nine hydrogen buses were expected to arrive from Polish manufacturer Solaris in the coming weeks, scheduled to be in service as of december 2021. This might however be delayed due to the fire.

and people who said hydrogen was too dangerous to be used as a road fuel were called Jonahs! If an experimental / industrial set-up can't get it right, what chance Joe Public?
I'm sure we shall be told it is just one of those teething problems which are only to be expected!

The disaster waiting to happen, happened (nearly) ..wonder how the BEV / Tesla haters will respond to that.
Lucky the tanks didn't go.

(at least there will be data for the fire services too who must have been twitchy since Hydrogen buses were mooted, & a local filling station, open to the public in december were mooted)

Seeing the river simple tank was an eye opener, (it was medium size fire extinguisher size-ish) I have no idea how big the tank on a range rover would be, let alone a bus.
