So the leaf, not getting used as much as it should for the past year+ & daughter limited to weekends practise, the LCD screen has become intermittent, is it duff or in need of dessicant due to moisture?

looking for fix before we draw breath at the price of screens.

I bought a complete head unit from a guy on Facebook. I think i paid £100 for it and swapped screens as my one had went dead in one corner to fingers. Easy enough job

Its only 5 minutes to pull the head unit and a day or so in a salt bag will let you know if it is a simple fix.

Cheers for the info joe, I'll start looking around might just put one aside regardless as I think the daughter will enable the leaf & forgoe the smart car, either way it needs taking care of.

Daughter under instruction to "up her game" where moisture & car heating is concerned via the old air con heat mix & Windows cracked open, that will be our first attempt at common sense diagnostics along with some more poundstore moisture traps.

Thankfully it's an easy one to access & pull out, (but for anyone reading this down the line, archivally) there are at least 3 variants for the Leaf head unit infotainment, so you need to id it with either a call to nissan via the vin (possibly) or pull the panel out, having released clips top & bottom alternate tugs..

Lay some soft material down first in the console area as that's where the connected fascia is going to sit prior to the removal of the head unit.

4 screws allow removal, take a few phone pictures of the order of colour connectors for easier re-install.

I'm waiting on some moisture traps, taking the Head unit into the house to warm through with a moisture trap inna bag for a few days... just to see.

Anyway..
This video was good.

& a video to fast forward through to see how simple a damaged screen changeover is also

(because there are a few of us early leaf owners here)

As per speakev.com it is likely Nissan uk et al will simply flog you a complete head unit as a solution rather than "spares"

If you get me the serial no of the complete unit I can ask someone. Also the model and year of car?

Acenta, 2015, 24ish variant.
Will input serial number of unit thursday.

My fudge fingers were having fun grappling the hazard light disconnect.
It's like the designers said, design wise the assembly is too simple, let's stick a chicane in "here" for the production wallahs.
Seconds, to deconstruct ..then minutes **fiddfling**
Cheers Joe
