Wh/mile

My commute home last night saw me on the 50mph average speed check section of the M4 for quite a while. As a result, my consumption was pretty darned efficient! I wasn't attempting to hypermile by drafting any trucks and I even had the aircon on, but it does show you that EVs are efficient, ambient temperature helps, and driving slower has a huge impact!

Average 39mph at 5.5 miles/kWh can't be bad.

We need to agree on a common unit to measure BEV efficiency! My brain works in miles/kWh. Which makes that 5.5 (very impressive).

There are 40.44kWh of energy in a UK gallon of petrol, which makes that trip a petrol miles per gallon equivalent of 223MPG. Nice.

A westerly tailwind may have helped too if you were driving east along the M4.
My fast 70+ Mph 250 miles drive from my parents last week, I was only getting the equivalent of 135MPG but better than the 30MPG it would have been in my previous ICE car.

Oh flip, I told the wife mistakenly that it was 160 Wh, ..she already gets 180 pretty regularly it seems, then blows it all on a 7 second high wattage overtaking manouvere, well I'm not going to say I was wrong *at this juncture*
..Just let her try to get to 160 on the sly.

The best I have seen.on the I5 is 4.5 miles per kWh so that's 182mpg on Dan b's figure. The I5 twin motor is not famous as a hypermiler, I am interested to see what sort of miles per we are getting after 3 weeks of potential air temp increase.
Problem is, i am a little addicted to the whoosh when pedal is applied to the metal in power mode.

Wife tends to stay in chill mode, so clearly that degree of limitation helps, however we've never felt like that isn't sufficient to get the greasy fast paced stuff done.
She's no hyper-miler either, I would like to see a watt hour mode alongside the speedo, it may give her that nudge to trim the pedal a bit more.
sadly radio stations are more priority with her than the rolling data.
